I am Ål Nik (Alexandra Nikolova / Александра Николова), and I use custom illustration, live drawing, editorial illustration, and fine art to help businesses, nonprofits, and NGOs communicate through the most instantaneous medium imaginable: images.

I have spent decades studying how to simplify complex information into something immediately digestible while developing my playful, minimal line illustration style. With an MFA in Fine Art and Media Design and BAs in Art History and Art Education, I have a full grasp of how to use art to help people visualise key ideas and complex information through hand-drawn illustration. Whether I am providing editorial illustrations live at a conference or working one-on-one to create custom illustrations for an NGO, I channel decades of versatile skills to simplify complex ideas so they are immediately understandable.

I have found that people connect through visual art. They engage and relate to what they see. I use illustration to help people from all backgrounds connect with complex ideas instantly. My speciality is capturing important moments and concepts that need a lot of explanation - and creating minimalist illustrations that communicate the whole idea. 

Not only do my illustrations and graphic recordings make information immediately understandable during a conference, webinar, or live discussion, but my clients also walk away with visual art they can use in marketing. My illustrations have improved social media engagement, added value to websites, and helped build community for the businesses that have utilised the artwork to connect with others. 

Some of my past and current clients include the Emprove Foundation, Teach for Bulgaria, Nomadways, Biodiversity Foundation, Less Walls, Ideas Factory, SCANMAN, and Viber. I currently provide playful, hand-drawn illustrations to the Unsplash+ community and the Brush&Bow creative journalist collective.
