Bio

My name is Ål Nik [Alexandra Nikolova // Александра Николова] [she/her] and I am an interdisciplinary artist, designer, researcher, and facilitator. I play with graphic design, visual, digital, sound art, and experimental publishing.

With my practice, I’d like to bring up things I find important and I weave diverse lines of work and disciplines to do so. I work in the fields of artistic research, collaborative practices exploration, publishing, documentation, and addressing socially charged themes with a mixture of mediums. As a facilitator, I am interested in creating space for exchange and (self)reflection. I like to explore ways to invite other makers to experiment and have valuable conversations.

I hold a Master’s degree in Fine Arts and Media Design: Experimental Publishing from the Piet Zwart Institute (Rotterdam, the Netherlands). My Bachelor’s degrees are in Art History and Art Education Theory and Practice from the National Art Academy (Sofia, Bulgaria). I’ve lived and worked in Nicosia, Rotterdam, Brussels, Lisbon, London, various locations in rural France and Sofia.
